DESPITE the cost of Malaysia’s ubiquitous roti canai costing up to RM2 or more in certain places, a food operator in Kulim, Kedah, is continuing to sell this Malaysian staple alongside mini-murtabak at only RM1 per piece.

Mohd Ghazali Hussin, 53, said he kept the price of his items the same since entering the business 22 years ago, Utusan Malaysia reported.

“This is also my way of participating in the Menu Rahmah initiative,” he said, adding that his store opened as early as 7am and was frequented by those looking for breakfast or takeaways.

Rising costs also caused him to feel the pinch, but Mohd Ghazali said this does not really burden him.

“There is no compromise in quality, although I am selling roti canai at RM1. I am still using the same ingredients and making them in the same size,” he said.

> Actor Hairul Azreen’s shoot for the upcoming The Original Gangster movie has been cut short after he suffered from an anterior cruciate ligament tear (ACL) on his left knee.

Harian Metro reported that the injury forced the 35-year-old to withdraw (from the shoot) in order to recover.

“I am deeply sorry to my colleagues and production team. It is time for me to rest,” he said in a social media post.

The post also included a video of him being treated and undergoing medical scans, which saw fellow artistes also showing their support for him. Responding to a comment, Hairul said this was the second time he experienced an ACL tear.

> Sick of being labelled as a problematic artiste and a nightclub-goer, singer Ismail Izzani has come out to acknowledge his wrongs to avoid being labelled a hypocrite.

The singer, whose full name is Ismail Izzani Zainal Nazeri, said as a human being, it was impossible to run away from making any mistakes, Kosmo! reported.

“About clubbing and partying, sometimes we do go. I myself am still clubbing but I do know my limits. I don’t want to be a hypocrite but instead admit that we make many mistakes in life,” he said.

The singer acknowledged that celebrities were constantly in the public eye and their every move was being watched.

“We can’t please everyone or force people to like us. For those who truly support me, I am grateful,” he said.
