Domestic Trade Ministry seizes fake spare parts worth over RM240,000


PUTRAJAYA: The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry seized a total of 3,043 units of vehicle spare parts worth RM240,792 in two separate raids in Batu Caves, Selangor and Cheras, Kuala Lumpur on Feb 7.

Ministry Enforcement director-general Datuk Azman Adam said the spare parts, which are suspected to be counterfeit, were oil filters, air filters and timing belts.

Azman said the raids by a Putrajaya enforcement team from the Ministry were based on intelligence conducted a few days earlier after receiving information from the owner of the registered trademark of the goods.

"We also seized some business documents," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Feb 15).

He said, the KPDN also arrested two local men, aged between 30 and 40 and who claimed to be the owner of the raided premises, to assist in the investigation. - Bernama
