Nearly 340 cops transferred nationwide since 2018 for disciplinary issues

KUALA LUMPUR: 339 police officers were transferred nationwide from 2018 till January this year due to disciplinary issues, the Dewan Rakyat was told.

The figure consists of 294 police officers who were transferred to Peninsular Malaysia, 25 to Sabah and 20 to Sarawak.

“The statistics showed that transfers to to the Peninsular recorded the highest percentage which is 86.7%, while transfers to Sarawak only involved 5.9%,” said Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail in a Parliamentary written reply dated Feb 16.

“The transfers were made because the police officers have disciplinary and integrity issues, and some committed criminal offences,” added Saifuddin.

Among other offences were having intimate relations with married police officers, being arrested for committing khalwat (being in close proximity) with married police officers, and being involved in other immoral activities.

Saifuddin was responding to Ahmad Johnie Zawawi (GPS-Igan), who asked about the amount of police officers who were transferred from Peninsular Malaysia to Sarawak due to disciplinary issues since 2018.
