KOTA KINABALU: A police report has been lodged against Kunak assemblyman Norazlinah Arif over claims that she was offered money and positions to leave Parti Warisan.
The report was lodged by Warisan Wanita deputy chief Norfaizah Chua at the Penampang police station near here on Feb 9, three days after Norazlinah and two other assemblymen quit the party to become Independents friendly to the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) government.
A photo of the police report was provided to the media by Warisan on Thursday (Feb 16).
In her report, Norfaizah said she had come across a video clip on social media of Norazlinah claiming that she had been enticed with money and position to leave Warisan.
“I lodged the report so the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) can investigate and take action,” Norfaizah said in her report.
In the video clip, Norazlinah, the former Warisan Wanita chief, also said that despite the alleged offer, she could not bring herself to leave Warisan as the people had voted for her in the last state election under the party's ticket.
It is believed that the video was first shared on Norazlinah’s social media accounts in June last year, following talk that she was intending to jump ship from the Opposition to back the GRS government.
Norazlinah, together with Mohammad Mohamarin (Banggi) and Chong Chen Bin (Tanjong Kapor), quit Warisan on Feb 6 and announced their support for Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
Norazlinah had said on Wednesday (Feb 15) that she had no issue being investigated by the authorities over allegations she was paid to leave Warisan.
She also told her accusers to provide evidence that she and two others were rewarded with monetary gains to leave Warisan.
“I’m ready to be investigated by the MACC,” she said in a statement after Warisan president Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal accused her and two other assemblymen of being offered money to cross the floor.
