PETALING JAYA: As the awards night draws closer, the Star Outstanding Business Awards (SOBA) 2022 cranked up the excitement with a social event that paid tribute to its past winners from all the way back to the first ceremony held in 2010.

The SOBA Prestige 2022 event was held last evening at Skyhill International, in the Avante Hotel here, and was attended by Star Media Group (SMG) chief executive officer Alex Yeow as well as chief content officer Esther Ng.

The event was graced by SOBA 2022 sponsors, namely Credit Corporation Guarantee Malaysia Berhad chief risk officer K. Perbagaran, Digi head of enterprise sales (SME) Steven Soon Kok Leng, PKT Logistics Group Sdn Bhd group chief executive and managing director Datuk Seri Michael Tio, RHB Bank Berhad, SME banking head Yip How Nang, TalentCorp group chief operating officer Siva Kumeren A. Narayanan, and Malaysia External Trade Development Corp (Matrade) strategic planning division senior director Raja Badrulnizam Raja Kamalzaman.

Lending weight to the occasion were event sponsors, Carlsberg Marketing Activation assistant manager Andel Khoo Chun Chiang and Rotol Group (M) Sdn Bhd founder and group managing director Datuk Seri Garry Chua.

The specially curated event was initiated last year as part of the ongoing effort to bring together SOBA alumni, partners and sponsors for an enjoyable and fruitful networking affair.

In welcoming the attendees, Yeow said, “Through this gathering, we hope to reconnect, form new bonds that go beyond mere business and foster a new generation of thought leaders.

“It is also our way of expressing our sincere thanks to all of you for being an essential part of SOBA.”

“SOBA is one of the more prestigious business awards in the marketplace in terms of recognition, which is a good reason for us to collaborate with the best,” said Chua, adding that he has always had a good working relationship with SMG.

SOBA 2022 is organised by SMG with Credit Guarantee Corporation Malaysia Bhd, Digi, PKT Logistics Group and RHB Bank Bhd as main sponsors; TalentCorp Malaysia as a co-sponsor; and Matrade as the official trade promotion partner.

Supported by Bursa Malaysia, it is audited by BDO, with 988 and Suria as official media partners.
