MCA has submitted a wish list for all Malaysians to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim ahead of the tabling of Budget 2023 next Friday.
Party president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong personally handed over a memorandum to the Prime Minister on the sidelines of the Dewan Rakyat yesterday.
“The memorandum contains recommendations from MCA and Chinese non-governmental organisations for Budget 2023, which will cover various sectors for the benefit of the people,” he said in a Facebook post that included a photograph of Anwar accepting the memorandum.
Dr Wee met Anwar as he was leaving Parliament shortly after briefing the Dewan Rakyat on his trip to Turkiye to visit the elite Special Malaysia Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (Smart) deployed to assist the people there.
The Ayer Hitam MP also raised the issue of the condition of several road systems connecting Batu Pahat, Kluang and Chaah to his constituency.
“The FT050 route (Batu Pahat-Kluang-Ayer Hitam) had previously been recorded as having the highest accident rate because of the lack of a road median and road shoulder,” he said when raising the issue in the Dewan Rakyat’s Special Chambers. He said the poor condition along the Chaah-Ayer Hitam stretch due to potholes and uneven roads, including a narrow road shoulder, also posed a danger to motorists.
In his reply, Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi acknowledged that there had been delays in the completion of the RM250mil road works under Phases 3A and 3B along the Batu Pahat-Kluang-Ayer Hitam route.
He said the project was launched on Oct 16, 2021 and was supposed to have been completed in October 2024.
However, owing to land issues, the minister said the project would only be completed by Oct 26, 2025.
On the Chaah-Ayer Hitam stretch, he said initial plans to upgrade the route through the Gemas-Ayer Hitam road project were put on hold.
“A proposal will be resubmitted for consideration under the rolling plan of the 12th Malaysia Plan,” he added.
