SEREMBAN: A police report has been lodged against a TikTok account holder for alleging that the recently opened 7.5km-long Jalan Temiang-Pantai stretch or Temiang bypass has been renamed after DAP's co-founder Dr Chen Man Hin.
State DAP Socialist Youth chief Lim Chun Weng said the report was also lodged as the account holder identified as @kitakorek had also linked Dr Chen, who was the party's lifetime advisor, with communism.
"We decided to lodge a report as the 32-second clip contained misleading and extremely provocative content.
"In the clip which has since gone viral, the individual had not only used footage of the wrong stretch, but had used the DAP's logo in it and said it was a communist party," he told reporters after lodging a report at the district police station.
On Wednesday, Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said the state exco has proposed to rename the 3.38km Jalan Temiang located in the city to Jalan Dr Chen Man Hin.
He said Jalan Sikamat will also be renamed Jalan Datuk Sheikh Mohd Murtadza, in honour of the former state mufti.
He said the state administration decided to rename the roads as the duo had contributed immensely to the state.
Dr Chen passed away in August last year at the age of 97 while Datuk Sheikh Mohd Murtadza Sheikh Ahmad, who was state mufti from 1987 till 2008, passed away in 2017 aged 80.
Dr Chen had served as assemblyman and MP for several terms.
Sheikh Mohd Murtadza, an Al Azhar University graduate, was named Tokoh Maal Hijrah Negri Sembilan in 2000, and in 2011, was given the Tokoh Ulama award in conjunction with the centenary celebration of Madrasah Al-Attas Al-Arabiah in Johor.
Lim said the clip also suggested that the DAP controlled the state government.
"The intention of producing such a clip is also to stoke racial tension and from the comments, you can see just how much hate it had managed to generate.
"There is so much negative stuff being said and this will only create disharmony," he said.
Lim said the clip was also produced to get support for DAP's rivals with the state polls due to be held this year.
Separately, Lim also rubbished claims by state Muafakat Nasional pro-tem chairman Badul Hisham Shaharin that Dr Chen did not serve the people of Seremban.
"Along Jalan Temiang alone, you have many non-governmental organisations which have benefited immensely from Dr Chen's contributions in both cash and kind.
"In fact, he was known by many as he used to give free medical treatment to the poor at his clinic," he added.
Badrul Hisham had alleged that the state government's move was a political stunt and there was no justification to rename Jalan Temiang after Dr Chen.
