Quran found in drain in Jinjang

KUALA LUMPUR: Thirteen copies of the Quran have been found dumped in a drain at Tasik Sri Murni Jinjang here.

Sentul OCPD Asst Comm Beh Eng Lai said a 52-year-old woman lodged a report that she had found the Quran at about 6.30pm on Saturday (Feb 18).

"The complainant saw a blue bag inside the drain and upon checking, she discovered that it contained the Quran.

"She then asked the assistance of another man to take the bag before handing it over to Masjid Annas Kampung Selayang Lama for safekeeping," he said when contacted on Sunday (Feb 19).

A video of the incident has since gone viral on TikTok, he added.

"We believe the Quran were thrown away by irresponsible individuals.

"We are investigating under Sections 295 and 298A of the Penal Code.

"All the Quran found have been handed over to the police," he said.

ACP Beh advised the public not to speculate on the matter as it could create distress and jeopardise public order.

"We urge those with information on the matter to contact the Sentul district police headquarters at 03-4048 2206," he added.
