T'ganu cops record statements from 12 over controversial PAS Youth parade


PETALING JAYA: The police have recorded statements from 12 individuals to help in investigations into a controversial parade by PAS Youth in Terengganu recently.

Terengganu police chief Comm Datuk Rohaimi Md Isa (pic) told Malay language daily Sinar Harian that several other individuals would be called in for questioning on Monday (Feb 20) afternoon.

"Several more individuals, including participants will be called up to give their statements," he said in a statement Monday (Feb 20).

He also told Sinar Harian that so far, three police reports had been lodged over the controversial parade.

The parade in question had taken place in Setiu, Terengganu, as part of a two-day PAS Youth gathering – Himpunan Pemuda Islam Terengganu (Himpit) – that began on Friday (Feb 17).

During the event, PAS Youth members were seen in pictures on social media clad in medieval war costumes and armed with fake swords, spears and shields.
