PM Anwar: Take action against corruption, even if from PKR

KUALA LUMPUR: Take action across the board including those from my party if there is any evidence of corruption or abuse, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

He said that he would not be apologetic when it comes to such cases and had ordered the relevant bodies to take action on them.

"My orders to all of them, including during my meeting with the relevant agencies this morning, just take action, I do not care whether they are from any party even from PKR, as I cannot guarantee that my party is 100% clean, unlike the other side who claimed that they are all clean but in fact have been proven that is not true," he said in reply to a supplementary question from Ahmad Fadhli Shaari (PN-Pasir Mas).

Anwar added that to him the Malaysia Madani concept was not just an empty slogan and wanted the public to understand that the country cannot move forward without proper moral values.

"The country may be advanced in terms of economy but can also be bad in terms of governance," he said.

Anwar also admitted that he was accused of criticising the country for admitting that the culture of corruption was systemic during his recent trips abroad, but he said that it was not true.

"This is the reality, whether I am in Jakarta or Bangkok, I will still mention it.

"Why should I say that Malaysia is 100% clean and it will look bad on me. I am just explaining the real situation and we are taking action on such problems," he said.
