Istana Budaya collected over RM6.14mil in 2022

KUALA LUMPUR: Istana Budaya collected a total of RM6.144 million in ticket sales from 15 programmes and 39 plays staged throughout 2022.

Istana Budaya director-general Zubaidah Mukhtar said that for the whole of last year, its total audience was 29,405 while its publicity value reached RM52 million.

"Istana Budaya had also brought fame to the country through the involvement of the Malaysian Traditional Orchestra (OTM) and Artistana in several arts and cultural programmes held in countries such as South Korea, India and Vietnam.

"Among the achievements were the production of the Asian Traditional Orchestra (ATO) music video in Gwangju, South Korea; the ASEAN-India Music Festival in New Delhi, India; and the Asean-Vietnam Music Festival in Hoi An, Vietnam,” she said in a statement today.

Earlier, Zubaidah and Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry deputy secretary-general (culture) Mohd Yusri Mohd Yusoff launched the Istana Budaya 2023 Programme.

According to the statement, Istana Budaya will start its 2023 programme with the Ministry of Education Royal Concert, followed by several other programmes.

"Today, we launched a Gerak campaign to fuel the public’s love for national art.

Some of the programmes lined up for the Gerak campaign are the Malaysian Traditional Orchestra Outreach Programme: Sounds of Malaysia; IB Sulur Nakasari Tour Series; NSO Lambang Sari Series 2023; IB In The Park; Traditional Music Expedition Mega Concert; and Echoes of Bronze, Asean,” she added. - Bernama
