Missing man in forested area in Sandakan found safe


KOTA KINABALU: A man who went missing in a forested area in Sandakan was found safe on the second day of the search and rescue (SAR) operation on Thursday (Feb 23).

The Fire and Rescue Department received a report on Wednesday (Feb 22) at 12.59pm of 49-year-old Petrus Liman not returning home after entering the forest at Batu 32, Ladang Ranggi on Tuesday (Feb 21) around 4pm.

“The report was filed by his brother-in-law, who said the motive behind the victim going into the woods was not known.

“Also joining the SAR operation were the K9 Unit with a tracker dog and the drone unit, where the Beluran Fire and Rescue team was assisted by policemen, General Operations Force personnel and villagers.

“The missing man was found by the public at Batu 7, Sandakan in safe condition,” said a Fire and Rescue spokesman, adding that the SAR operation ended at 3pm.
