Budget 2023: Anwar arrives in Parliament

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has arrived in the Parliament building to table the revised Budget 2023.

Clad in a light blue baju melayu, Anwar entered the Dewan Rakyat at about 3.52pm carrying a bag with a Sarawak songket motif.

Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, is scheduled to present the Malaysia Madani Budget 2023 at the Dewan Rakyat at 4pm, the first presented under his administration.

Opposition leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin was spotted wearing white baju melayu and arrived at 3.45pm with other Opposition MPs.

The Prime Minister presented a mini budget on Dec 20 last year under the Consolidated Fund (Expenditure on Account) Bill 2022 that took effect on Jan 1 for the expenditure of RM107.7bil.

Budget 2023 prepared by the administration led by former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob involved a total of RM372.3bil but was not debated and approved as Parliament was dissolved on Oct 10 to pave the way for the 15th General Election.
