Budget 2023: Digital content grants worth RM102mil for arts and culture sectors


KUALA LUMPUR: A total of RM102mil has been allocated to assist and promote new creative works in the arts and culture sectors in the form of Digital Content Grants.

Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, when announcing the revised Budget 2023 on Friday (Feb 24), said RM25mil will be provided for heritage and cultural activities at the community level.

An allocation of RM20mil has been given to Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka, Institut Terjemahan & Buku Malaysia (ITBM) and Yayasan Karyawan to increase the number of translated books and also develop quality local writers and enhance the literary scene's standing.

ThinkCity will collaborate with DBKL to rejuvenate Kuala Lumpur's position as a contemporary cultural capital with historical attractions and assets.

An allocation of RM30mil will be used to improve KL's image as well as to upgrade public housing in the capital while RM50mil has been set aside to preserve Unesco world heritage sites in Penang and Melaka.
