Four senior citizens killed in car-trailer crash near Trong

IPOH: Two couples were killed when the car the four were travelling in crashed head-on with a trailer in Sungai Tinggi, Taiping.

Taiping OCPD Asst Comm Razlam Ab Hamid said Ng Swee Ho, 67, Chew Yang Kim, 77 and their respective wives, Kor Siok Har, 64 and Ng Ah Mooi, 63, died on the spot during the incident on Friday at 5.35pm.

He said the deceased were from Pantai Remis and Sitiawan and were headed towards Taiping.

"The car they were in had swerved into the path of the trailer, which was transporting charcoal, and crashed head-on with the vehicle.

"The victims in the car suffered injuries to their heads and were confirmed to have died on the spot," he said.

"The driver of the trailer was unharmed," he said, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act.
