Hussein Omar Khan is Selangor's new top cop

KUALA LUMPUR: Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan has officially taken the helm as Selangor police chief.

Comm Hussein took over as Selangor's top cop from Deputy Comm Datuk S. Sasikala Devi, who had previously assumed the role in an acting capacity.

The handing-over ceremony between the two officers, which was held at the Police College in Cheras here on Friday (Feb 24), was witnessed by Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani.

The IGP, who congratulated Comm Hussein on his appointment, said he was confident the new chief would be able to lead Selangor police to new heights.

"His experience on the force, including as Bukit Aman CID deputy director, and in Nadma (National Disaster Management Agency) will contribute greatly towards helming Selangor police and leading it to success.

"However, he will need the full support of all Selangor officers and personnel, especially heads of department and OCPDs," he said.

Comm Hussein said he was honoured by the appointment.

"It is a huge responsibility leading the 14,000-strong state contingent and I will do my best to fulfil my duties.

"I hope all officers and personnel in Selangor will work with me in giving the best service to the people," he said.

Comm Hussein said he believed that his varied experience as well as support from all officers including DCP Sasikala will be a great help in his new position.

"Together we will see that Selangor police always ensure the safety and security of the people," he said.
