No such thing as 'my men' or 'your men', IGP says in reminding cops not to form cliques

KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani has reminded all senior police officers to not have cliques within the police force.

The Inspector-General of Police said the force must act as one without any existence of groups or factions.

"There is no such thing as 'my men' or 'your men'.

"As long as all of us are wearing the blue uniform, we are all in one team," he said in his speech after witnessing the handing-over ceremony for the Selangor police chief's post here on Friday (Feb 24).

Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan took over as the new state police chief from Deputy Comm Datuk S. Sasikala Devi, who held the post in an acting capacity following the retirement of Comm Datuk Arjunaidi Mohamed.

At a press conference later, the IGP said the culture of factions in the police force must not exist.

"We cannot discriminate against any officer or personnel.

"Leaders must acknowledge all subordinates and treat all personnel and officers equally," he said.

While he did not rule out the possibility of cliques existing in the police force, Acryl Sani said it could also be a matter of perception.

"It could happen anywhere and in any organisation.

"Nonetheless,we don't want such culture in the police force.

"Terms such as 'golden child' do not belong in the police force," he added.
