Budget 2023 announcements for Johor timely, says MB

JOHOR BARU: The Budget 2023 announcement of RM525mil to improve the highway network in Pengerang and to upgrade stretches of the North-South Expressway will be beneficial to various sectors, says Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi (pic).

He said that the two main highways are important links for the people in and out of Johor.

“I believe the construction of an overtaking lane on the Senai Desaru Expressway in Pengerang and Yong Peng Utara - Senai Utara project from four lanes to six lanes in phases will improve our connectivity," he said.

“We are thankful to the Federal Government for considering and including our wishes in the budget announcement,” added Onn Hafiz in a statement on Saturday (Feb 25).

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim - who is also the Finance Minister - presented the revised Budget 2023 in Parliament on Friday (Feb 24).

Apart from the highway improvements, he also announced that six flood mitigation projects will be re-tendered by June, including mitigation projects at Sungai Johor, Kota Tinggi and the upgrading of older hospitals nationwide including Hospital Pontian.

Onn Hafiz added that he is also happy that the Budget 2023 announcement mentioned the setting up of a financial zone in Iskandar Malaysia with incentive packages to attract more high-value investments.

“We are ready to commit to all the projects and initiatives announced by the Prime Minister for the wellbeing of the Bangsa Johor,” he added.
