Dr Mahathir, 13 ex-Pejuang members join Putra

PETALING JAYA: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad along with 13 other former members of Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) have officially joined Parti Bumiputera Perkasa Malaysia (Putra).

Former member of Pejuang Centre Executive Council, Armin Baniaz Pahamin confirmed the matter through a Facebook post on Friday (Feb 24).

“All G13 are welcome to register for membership and continue their political struggle under Parti Perkasa Bumiputera Malaysia (Putra).

“Our mission and goals need to be clear in order to succeed. The main struggle is for the unity of the Malay people, parties and organisations,” he said.

Dr Mahathir had previously received an invitation by Putra president Datuk Ibrahim Ali to join the four-year-old party as its adviser after the party's supreme council decided on the matter at its meeting on Saturday (Feb 18).

The former premier recently announced his exit from Pejuang, the party he formed in 2020, along with 12 other members, following the party's decision to cut ties with Gerakan Tanah Air. He had been party chairman until he resigned from the post in December last year.
