“MANDOPOP King” Jay Chou (pic) has become the first Taiwanese artiste to be named in the Global Artiste Chart 2022 by the International Federation of Phonographic Industry (IFPI), coming in at ninth place, reported China Press.
The top three spots were clinched by American singer Taylor Swift who led the chart for the third time, followed by K-pop boy group BTS and Canadian rapper Drake.
The chart lists the top recording artistes based on physical and digital album sales.
Announcing the achievement on Instagram, Chou said he was happy that fans from around the world listen to his albums.
“I have always been ambitious in my music and it would be a pity if my songs were only heard in Asia. I hope Chinese songs can be liked by more people around the world,” he said.
Chou’s latest album, Greatest Works of Art, was released last July.

“How time flies. It has been 20 years. This year, I will be releasing an album and I keep thinking about how to surprise you (her fans),” she wrote on Instagram.
