Women ministry to hold massive recruitment drive in setting up new dept, says Nancy Shukri

KUALA LUMPUR: There will be a massive recruitment drive to hire new officers for the Children's Development Department which is being set up in phases, says Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri (pic).

The Women, Family and Community Development Minister said most of the cost would mainly come from the need to hire a large amount of new staff to run the department.

"Most of the officers currently in the ministry have their hands full, with many taking on several different roles," said Nancy.

"From administrative tasks to organising and organising events to helping victims make police reports to providing consultation for victims, these are some of the tasks that on duty officers are in charge of daily," she added.

Nancy said when speaking to media after launching the Wanita Bangkit @ KPWKM Entrepreneurship programme on Saturday (Feb 25) that a large number of new staff must be hired and trained for the new department, in addition to the other costs.

She added that set-up of the new department would likely be done in phases due to budget constraints and that more comprehensive details would only be revealed later on.
