Umno polls will see ‘best team’ formed to revive party image, says Khaled

JOHOR BARU: The Umno election set for next month is to form “the best team” to rejuvenate the party’s image, says its vice-president Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.

The Johor Umno chairman said the polls are part of the party's rejuvenation process as a whole rather than for personal glory.

“We realise that the Umno today is not like how it was before so we need a strong leadership team to steer the party against the challenges to come.

“In the end, the winner will be Umno - not any individual,” he said when asked to comment on the upcoming party polls after officiating a scholarship fund by a private university in Taman Sierra Perdana in Pasir Gudang here on Saturday (Feb 25).

Previously, Mohamed Khaled, who is Higher Education Minister and Kota Tinggi MP, confirmed he would be defending the vice president post in the party election.

Polls for the Umno supreme council members (25 positions) at the division level will take place simultaneously on March 18 nationwide.
