MetMalaysia: Strong earthquake hits Papua New Guinea, no threat of tsunami to Malaysia


KUALA LUMPUR: A strong earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale hit New Britain Region in Papua New Guinea (PNG), at 5.24am on Sunday (Feb 26).

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), in a statement said the earthquake with a depth of 61km, occurred 77km South-West of Kimbe, PNG.

However, it did not pose a tsunami threat to Malaysia. - Bernama
