AMPANG: A 58-year-old Indonesian was arrested after allegedly sexually assaulting a female police officer at a food court here.
Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Farouk Eshak said the 30-year-old policewoman was buying food in AU5 Lembah Keramat at about 10.55am on Thursday when she felt a man groping her buttocks.
“She confronted the Indonesian man, but he denied it.
“Instead, the suspect, who was having breakfast with his wife, blamed the police personnel for standing in a cramped space,” he said when contacted.
Other police personnel who were alerted went to the scene and detained the man at about 12.45pm that day, he said.
“He has been remanded for further investigation.
“The case is classified under Section 354 of the Penal Code for outraging modesty,” he said.
