No landslide at Lahat Mines, says Ipoh Mayor

IPOH: No landslide had occurred at a housing construction project site in Lahat Mines near here as claimed in a TikTok video, says Datuk Rumaizi Baharin (pic).

The Ipoh Mayor said what was said in the viral video was not true.

He said the developer had lodged a police report against the TikTok account holder for making false claims, that could tarnish the reputation of the company, and affect the sales of the houses.

"There is a small crack that occurred at the development site, which is due to the construction activities.

"However remedial works, and slope restoration works are being carried out in stages according to the progress of the project," he said in a statement on Monday (Feb27).

Rumaizi said the company’s consultant provided the necessary advice, and has been informing them about the slope repairs and rehabilitation works suitable to be carried out from time to time.

"The construction is being carried out in line with the approved development," he said.

On Feb 18, a TikTok user uploaded a video of a landslide near a housing area in Lahat.

The voice-over in the one-minute, 11-second video claimed that a landslide had occurred and that houses above the area would be demolished.
