PETALING JAYA: Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir will be hosting a two-day working visit by Sabah-born Australian Foreign Affairs Minister Penny Wong (pic) on Monday and Tuesday (Feb 27 and 28).

According to a statement by the Foreign Ministry, both ministers will be discussing a variety of issues involving Asean, Myanmar and the Aukus security partnership.

Wong will also be meeting Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli among other activities organised by the Australian High Commission in Kuala Lumpur.

The Foreign Ministry added that Wong's visit reflects the strong ties between both nations under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP).

It added that both nations already have strong relationships in a variety of sectors including defense, science and technology, education, terrorism prevention, trade and investments.

This year, Australia is set to host the second Annual Leaders' Meeting (ALM) and the fifth Annual Foreign Ministers' Meeting (AFMM) based on CSP agreements.

In 2022, bilateral trade between both nations increased by 55.4% to RM88.65bil making Australia Malaysia's 10th biggest trade partner globally.
