KUALA LUMPUR: The government should be fair in allocating funds to states governed by the Opposition, says Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang.
While debating the 2023 Budget, the Marang MP and PAS president said delaying allocations to states held by the Opposition would be unIslamic and undemocratic.
"After the 15th General Election, the Pakatan Harapan component parties that did not have enough numbers to form a government were forced to cooperate with smaller parties, including those with a 'disease', to garner enough numbers to form a government.
"If the government falls again, please do not blame us (the Opposition). This is not tebuk atap (back door government), but the roof is leaking and the walls are already broken," he said in Parliament on Tuesday (Feb 28).
Abdul Hadi instead hinted that such a collapse, if it came to pass, would be due to the government's own flaws.
He also noted that many of those in the rural areas, specifically the Malays and bumiputra, had given their support to Perikatan Nasional while Pakatan had won in the mixed and urban areas.
He pointed out that many youth and rural voters protested against Barisan Nasional in GE15 following its previous mistakes, while others rejected Pakatan for not fulfilling its 2018 election manifesto.
