Duo plead not guilty to criminal intimidation


KULAI: Two friends were charged with criminal intimidation against a bus driver in a Magistrate’s Court here.

The two accused are S. Hariprasat, 32, and M. Kali, 42 who claimed trial in front of magistrate Azureen Sahira Sauffee Afandi here on Wednesday (March 1).

According to the charge sheet, they were accused of criminally intimidating Zaihan Zainon, 32, with the purpose of causing hurt on Jalan Batu 21 here at around 8.15am on Feb 24.

Both Hariprasat and Kali were charged under Section 506 of the Penal Code read together with Section 34 of the same legislation, which carries a jail term of up to two years or a fine or both upon conviction.

Azureen Sahira then set bail at RM2,500 each with one surety and also set April 3 for next mention.

Prosecution officer Insp Mohammad Dzulkhairi Saat prosecuted the case while lawyer Amarprret Singh represented Hariprasat while Kali was not represented.

Both accused posted bail.

On Saturday (Feb 25), police arrested the two suspects for road rage involving a public bus following a report lodged by the victim.

A 1.19-minute video of the incident also made rounds on social media where the suspects could be heard shouting profanities at the victim as well.
