Five hurt in two-vehicle collision in Sabah


KOTA KINABALU: Five people were injured in a collision on Jalan Salir Sook in interior Keningau on Wednesday (March 1).

Sook fire station chief Faizal Ahmad said the mishap involved two vehicles that collided at around 2pm.

“We received an emergency call at around 2.30pm and when our rescuers arrived, they found that all five victims, one from one vehicle and four in the other, injured,” he said when contacted.

The first victim identified as Yahilih Arifin, 54, who was the driver of the first car, sustained injuries on his legs.

The four in the other car - Bungkias Uta, 50; Ambius Antawor, 48; and two women whose identity had yet to be determined - also sustained multiple injuries including broken legs and some injuries to their head, said Faizal.

“All injured victims had been taken to the Sook Hospital for treatment,” he said, adding that operations ended at 3.32pm.

Faizal advised road users to be careful and alert when on the road to prevent accidents.
