Floods: TNB shuts down 28 substations in Johor

JOHOR BARU: A total of 28 Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) substations had to be closed for safety reasons following the floods in eight districts in Johor.

Johor TNB general manager Mohamed Noh Md Seth said the shutdown caused power disruptions to about 1,400 consumers in Kluang, Johor Baru and Segamat.

He added that TNB had also shut down the electricity supply in 22 affected areas in Segamat and three areas each in Kluang and Johor Bahru.

"This is to ensure the safety of consumers in case the flood situation worsens.

"We would also like to advise the public to switch off and unplug electrical appliances and not to approach or even touch any electrical installations,” he said when contacted by Bernama Wednesday (March 1).

Earlier, 20 power substations were also shut in the Kota Tinggi district at 7.33am, which caused a power outage to about 800 users around the district and power supply resumed at 1.37pm Wednesday.

For enquiries, the public can contact the TNB Careline at 15454 or TNB Careline Facebook regarding any TNB installations that have fallen or collapsed. - Bernama
