Bersatu treasurer Mohd Salleh released on bail

SHAH ALAM: Bersatu treasurer Mohd Salleh Bajuri, who was arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to aid investigations into the party's accounts, has been released on bail.

Bersatu information chief Datuk Razali Idris said this when contacted by Sinar Harian on Saturday (March 4).

"I was informed that Mohd Salleh was released on bail and he could return home on Friday (March 3)," he said.

He claimed that Mohd Salleh's arrest was an attempt to tarnish Bersatu's image in the eyes of the public.

Razali claimed the money was not placed into Mohd Salleh's personal account.

"From what I understand there was no deposit (of funds) into Mohd Salleh's personal account. He was only taking care of the party's accounts and it was audited annually – meaning the account is clean without any doubtful deposits.

"Judging by the situation, I expect more Bersatu leaders to be arrested and investigated by the MACC," he told Sinar Harian.
