Floods force closure of Muar police station

MUAR: The Panchor police station here has been temporarily closed after it was hit by floods.

Muar OCPD Asst Comm Raiz Mukhliz Azman said that the Panchor police station temporarily stopped operations from 10am on Saturday (March 4) after the water level went up.

"Water started rising in at about 9am and by 10am, it was ordered to close temporarily.

"Those with any matters to attend to can head to other stations nearby," he said in a statement on Saturday (March 4).

He added that the area surrounding the police station has also been closed due to rising floodwaters.

"Several roads have also been closed. The affected areas are Jalan Muar-Labis (near Speedmart Lenga, Kampung Jawa and Sungai Tui Bridge), Jalan Tekam Pagoh (Kebun Bunga Sawit), Jalan Durian Chondong (Sungai Muar bridge), Jalan Renchong-Gombang (Sungai Menchil) and Jalan Kg Liang Batu (Masjid Kg Liang Batu)," he said.

He added that the police would continue patrolling flooded areas to ensure the safety of the people affected and their belongings.

"We advise the public to be alert to weather conditions and not to attempt crossing roads submerged by floods," he said.
