Four dams hit dangerous level in Johor


KLUANG: Four dams in Johor have reached dangerous levels following continuous rain since Monday, says state works, transportation and infrastructure committee chairman Mohamad Fazli Mohamad Salleh. The four dams were Sembrong, Bekok, Labong and Machap.

“The Sembrong dam recorded a current reservoir level of 12.18m as at 7.30 this morning, exceeding the normal reservoir level of 8.5m,” he said when contacted here yesterday.

He said the current reservoir level at the Bekok Dam was 20.75m, exceeding the normal level of 16m.

Mohamad Fazli, who is also the Bukit Pasir assemblyman, said for Machap Dam, the current level was 17.45m, compared to the normal level of 15.85m.

“This dam received 25.5mm of rain. A total of 27.26 cubic metres per second has been released from this dam as at 8am (yesterday),” he added.

Meanwhile, he said the Labong Dam’s current level was 8.81m compared to the normal level of 8.42m as at 8am yesterday.
