Boy, 12, feared drowned

BACHOK: A 12-year-old boy is feared to have drowned while trying to save his nephew at Pantai Kemayan here.

Bachok OCPD Supt Mohamad Ismail Jamaluddin said Ahmad Fadhlullah Mohamad went missing in the 8am incident.

He was trying to save his nephew Muhammad Nabil Irfan Ismail Mokhtar, 11, who had slipped from the concrete embankment.

“The incident occurred when Muhammad Nabil is believed to have slipped and fallen into the sea. Upon seeing the situation, Ahmad Fadhlullah and his sister Nurul Afiqah, 19, jumped into the water to save their nephew.

“While Muhammad Nabil was finally rescued, Ahmad Fadhlullah was lost in the big waves,” he said when contacted yesterday.

Search and rescue efforts are still being carried out with help from the Fire and Rescue Department, the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency and the Civil Defence Force. — Bernama
