King: Make Kuala Boh a model Orang Asli village

CAMERON HIGHLANDS: The King has expressed his wish to see Kampung Orang Asli Kuala Boh here be made a model village for other Orang Asli settlements.

The village, said Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, should be emulated due to its cleanliness and surrounding beauty, as well as the harmony displayed by the community.

“I wish to remind the people, especially the locals, to continue to maintain the harmony and friendship and not to be too political.

“We work on our land to earn an income and those who work outside in Tanah Rata should remain working there to the best of your capability because it is not easy to find work now,” said His Majesty after a briefing on the improvement of telecommunication services at the village by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

Also present was the Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah.

Sultan Abdullah also expressed his happiness with MCMC’s plans to improve telecommunication services in the area and said he hoped that more facilities promised to the Orang Asli community could be fulfilled soon.

“I was informed that some houses will be built by the Pahang Islamic Religion and Malay Customs Council together with the Orang Asli Development Department, while some homes in this area will be repaired.

“I believe that efforts will also be taken to provide infrastructure, especially electricity, water and others,” said His Majesty as reported by Bernama.

Earlier, Sultan Abdullah and Tunku Azizah witnessed the conversion of two Orang Asli women to Islam in the village, followed by a presentation of a van and school supplies for Orang Asli children.

Sultan Abdullah and Tunku Azizah also treated the residents to ‘jemput jemput durian’, prepared by Tunku Azizah.
