MCA flags flown at half-mast nationwide to honour the late Lee San Choon

PETALING JAYA: All MCA flags at party premises nationwide will be flown at half-mast until Tuesday (March 7), says party president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

He said this was in honour of its fourth president Tan Sri Lee San Choon who passed away on Friday (March 3) at the age of 88.

“His funeral will be held tomorrow (March 7) at 10am. I will be attending it together with the MCA central leadership.

“My deepest condolences to the late Lee’s family,” he said in a Facebook post on Monday (March 6).

Dr Wee also shared pictures of party premises in Kedah, Penang and Johor, among others, flying the party flags at half-mast.

Born in Pekan, Pahang, the late Lee rose up in the party’s youth wing to become its youngest MP.

Lee was the MCA president from 1975 to 1983.

Wisma MCA, which houses the party headquarters now, was one of the major projects during Lee’s presidency.

He also launched fundraisers for the Tunku Abdul Rahman College and set up both Multi-Purpose Holdings Bhd and the Malaysian Chinese Cultural Society.
