TNB shuts down substations in Johor

JOHOR BARU: The electricity supply to seven districts in the state is still cut off after Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) was forced to shut down some substations due to floodwater.

State works, transportation and infrastructure committee chairman Mohamad Fazli Mohamad Salleh said the floods had affected the operations of 120 TNB substations throughout Johor.

“TNB had no choice but to cut off the supply at the substations for safety reasons.

“This is also to safeguard their assets to avoid further unwanted incidents.

“As at Saturday night, 70 substations have resumed operations while the rest have yet to function fully.

“Some of the areas still without electricity supply are Chaah, Bukit Kepong, Yong Peng, Parit Sulong, Kluang, Endau, Ayer Hitam, Tongkang Pechah, Bukit Siput and Kota Tinggi,” he said.

He reassured the public that TNB and its contractors are trying their best to iron out the issues, especially in ensuring a steady supply to crucial places like temporary flood relief shelters, clinics and hospitals.
