KOTA KINABALU: Professor Dr Mohd Tajuddin Rasdi (pic) is set to launch his latest book "Resetting Malaysia” in Kota Kinabalu on March 20.
He has picked Sabah for the book to be launched as the state and neighbouring Sarawak are emerging as important players in the shaping of the future of Malaysia.
Tajuddin's book pushes the concept of each citizen playing their role in resetting the nation into the Malaysia they aspire it to be.
"This book puts forth ideas and suggestions on how each and every one of us citizens can change into something that will eventually bind us all into a single nation that respects the faith, culture and lifestyle of all," he said.
The book comprises original draft articles written in his column "Over the Top" in The Star.
The book is a series of articles predicated on the idea of how each citizen can change this nation by changing their attitudes, mindsets and much inherited perspectives, narratives and perception, he said.
"I chose to divide the book into three parts, on education, faith and society. On education, I write about how our present schools and universities, public or private, impart imitative and uncritical boxes of knowledge, practices and perception.
"I then suggest how we might think in a different way in order to start the chain reaction of change from individual to family to friends and then to the society at large," he said in a statement.
“On faith, I put forward my discovery of real spirituality that could fuel change in us first and then eventually the politics and economics as well as education of this country.
"Spirituality is about treating others with dignity and compassion while treating ourselves with a dose of critical assessment.
Finally, the part about society is about instilling change in a wider framework of family," said Tajuddin, who has authored 52 books on Islamic architecture, the mosque, housing, community building and planning of administrative centres.
He has won four National Book awards.
Local non-governmental organisation - Sabah Action Body Advocating Rights (SABAR) - who is organising the book launch, said that the launch would be held at the Tanjung Aru State Library here from 1.30pm to 3.30pm.
The event is free and open to the public, but due to limited capacity registration, those interested can register by sending a WhatsApp message to the event organiser at 017-812 0688 or register online https://forms.gle/bXXyDJxdhnw699JR8
