Floods: Supply of food, necessities must be sufficient for victims at relief centres, says Johor Sultan

JOHOR BARU: The authorities must ensure that the supply of necessities for flood victims at relief centres (PPS) must be always sufficient, says Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar.

The Sultan said this is to ensure that flood victims moved to PPS, after being affected by rising water levels, receive adequate supplies.

"Due to the unpredictable weather conditions, I want authorities to ensure that all necessary supplies for flood victims are always sufficient at the PPS.

"At the same time, I urge all officials and enforcement agencies involved in flood operations to be careful while carrying out their duties," said the Ruler in a statement posted on his official Facebook page on Tuesday (March 7).

Earlier, Sultan Ibrahim visited several PPS in the Batu Pahat district to console and provide assistance to flood victims.

During the visit, the Ruler also spent time interacting with the victims and providing words of encouragement, as well as inspecting the PPS environment.

Sultan Ibrahim, who left Johor Baru at around 9.30am in a four-wheel drive vehicle convoy, first stopped at the Sekolah Agama Taman Sri Kota Islamic PPS in Yong Peng, which has 380 flood victims.

He then visited the PPS at SMK Dato' Seth, which has 357 victims, followed by the Dewan Orang Ramai Parit Yaani (431 victims) and Dewan Orang Ramai Sri Medan (236 victims).

Sultan Ibrahim also distributed flood aid contributed by the Sultan Ibrahim Johor Foundation in collaboration with the Malaysia Retail Chain Association (MRCA) to the affected families.
