Wife pays heart-wrenching tribute to hubby on 9th anniversary of MH370’s disappearance

PETALING JAYA: Nine years since the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370, the surviving wife of a flight attendant aboard the ill-fated plane says his voice is still fresh in her mind.

Intan Maizura Othaman, 43, whose husband Mohd Hazrin Mohamed Hasnan was among the 239 crew and passengers aboard the plane that has been missing since March 8, 2014, said this in a heart-wrenching tribute to her husband on the ninth anniversary of the plane’s disappearance on Wednesday (March 8).

"The last time I heard your voice was nine years ago and guess what, I still remember how it sounds nine years later, and it’s today.

"It’s still fresh and forever will be music to my ears.

"You may be gone but never forgotten. My love, my heart, my soul always and forever," she said in a video on TikTok, according to mStar.

Intan Maizura said she prayed that her husband be blessed and placed among the righteous ones.

"I’ll see you someday, inshaa Allah (God willing)," she said.

Touching further on death and loss, Intan Maizura, who was an entrepreneur and takaful agent, said it was something that could not be expected.

"But God has promised that (death) is certain. If that person is gone, there is nothing we can do. While you have your loved ones, cherish them.

"Because when they are gone, it's too late, you can't say anything. The only thing you can do now is appreciate them," she said.

Intan Maizura also advised wives to apologise to their husbands for any wrongdoings as no one could expect when death would come.

Through the video "Remembering MH370" uploaded by singer, actor and former flight attendant, Zarul Umbrella on TikTok on Wednesday (March 8), Intan Maizura also shared her advice to cherish every moment with loved ones.

"With the technology available, the main thing my husband and I liked to do was to take pictures and videos.

"So take lots of pictures and videos. Who knows if it turns into a case like mine, for example. Losing people, losing a husband like that.

"At least the memories of that person are still there, you can still hear his voice, you can see his face," she said.

Intan Maizura, who was pregnant with her second child when the MH370 plane went missing, added that her nine-year-old son Muhammad still had the opportunity to know his father through pictures and video.

"My son Muhammad never had the chance to see his papa’s face. But from an early age, he already knew it was papa because from when he was a baby, we showed him pictures and videos of his papa.

"So now, he knows his papa... he hears his papa's voice every day. It's good when you use all the media and technology properly.

"That's my advice because I've been through that," said Intan Maizura, who was also blessed with a 14-year-old daughter, Iman, in addition to Muhammad, from her marriage to Mohd Hazrin.
