Opposition MPs urged to ask ministers more questions in Parliament

KUALA LUMPUR: Opposition MPs have been urged to submit more questions for Minister's Question Time (MQT) in Parliament.

Deputy Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Ramli Mohd Nor said as at 10am Wednesday (March 8), the closing time for submission of questions, there were 14 from the government side and only three from the Opposition.

"I hope there will be more from the Opposition. This is the opportunity for YBs to interact with the ministers," he said in the Dewan Rakyat on Thursday (March 9).

"Maybe many of you are still new, so please take the opportunity. It will be a waste if you don't take the opportunity to ask the ministers.

"I will allow the Opposition to ask supplementary questions (during MQT)," he added.

During the 15th parliament sitting, the Prime Minister will answer three queries during Minister’s Question Time (MQT) every Tuesday morning, Speaker Datuk Johari Abdul had announced.

The regular MQT will continue every Thursday with Cabinet ministers responding to questions, he added.

“The scheduled MQT and Oral Answer session previously practised will continue and MPs have to adhere to the time set.

“They will be notified of any other changes (during this sitting),” Johari had said in Parliament on Feb 14.
