IPOH: The total figure mentioned in the documents handed to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and police keeps changing, says Perak PAS commissioner Razman Zakaria.
“This is an act to pressure enforcement agencies to accept accusations and find anything that can be deemed ‘incorrect’.
“Pakatan Harapan is trying to revive uncivilised politics that have long been forgotten by the people. Draconian politics are no longer relevant in the country. The Federal Government should instead be more mature and focus on developing the country,” he said.
MACC is investigating allegations that chosen contractors deposited RM300mil into the Bersatu party account as funds before the last general election.
Razman, who is the Perak Opposition leader and Gunung Semanggol assemblyman, said arresting Opposition leaders and subjecting them to "trumped-up charges" is not civilised politics.
He also said such acts went against basic human rights.
“The plot of the drama could be seen in the statements by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim from the day he took office.
"This goes against the slogans uttered by Pakatan when it was the Opposition.
“His statements as Prime Minister and Finance Minister seem to focus on dismantling the hard work of the previous government,” he said in a statement on Thursday (March 9).
Earlier in the day, Perikatan Nasional chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin was summoned to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters in Putrajaya.
“It is still acting like the Opposition (even though) in power, which can lead to unstable politics," he said, describing the coalition as a "modern barbarian" trying to suppress freedom of speech.
“Racial comments against the Malay and Muslim community in the country are being protected while those who criticise the government are being chained and imprisoned.
“Suppressing the people’s voice will only increase the political temperature of the country,” he said.
