Felcra officer fined RM10k for land fraud

IPOH: A 55-year-old senior Felcra officer was fined RM10,000 by the Sessions Court after she admitted to fraudulently misleading the Perak Tengah Land Office in a land application.

Rosnani Hashim, who is a senior executive assistant officer at the Federal Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority, pleaded guilty before judge Ahmad Kamar Jamaludin here yesterday.

According to the charge sheet, Rosnani had on Sept 2, 2021 knowingly misled the District Land Selection Committee about Azizah Ishak, 42, having applied for agricultural land in RPS Suak Sodang, Bota, on April 24 that year.

RPS or Rancangan Penempatan Semula is a resettlement programme of the Orang Asli.

Rosnani was also charged with offering a bribe of RM2,000 to Azizah to change the name on the land grant at the Perak Tengah Land Office parking lot on the same day.

In sentencing, Ahmad Kamar ordered Rosnani to pay a fine of RM10,000 in default one month’s jail.

According to the facts of the case, Rosnani also tried to offer RM4,000 to Azizah.

A bribe of RM6,000 in cash was forfeited under Section 40(1)(a) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009 to the government.

MACC deputy public prosecutor Maziyah Mansor prosecuted while Rosnani was not represented.
