IPOH: A woman whose dress ended slightly above the knees says she was denied entry to a government building here.

She was apparently barred from entering the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) building by an employee who said she failed to comply with the dress code guidelines.

In a video recorded and posted by the woman on social media, she is heard asking the male employee which part of her attire was considered objectionable.

The employee then says he could not allow her to go to the offices on the upper floors as her dressing did not comply with standards.

He also says he was aware she was recording a video, and was all right with it.

Khor Hooi Chin, 41, from Pantai Remis said when contacted later that she went to the SSM office at 11am on Friday (March 10) but the guard did not allow her to enter.

The seafood supplier then asked to speak to someone from SSM, and the male employee then came by to say she was not dressed according to the guidelines.

"I was not allowed to go in to do what I came for, and instead had to go to a mall to buy a longer dress.

"After that, I had to wait until 2.45pm for the office to reopen," she added.

Khor said the dress she wore when she arrived in the morning was considered office wear and there was nothing provocative about it.

"This is not the first case. We hear about this all the time, but nothing is done.

"I came from so far away and wasted an entire day trying to get my work done," she said.

Efforts were being made to get a comment from Perak entrepreneur development committee chairman Salbiah Mohamed, who oversaw SSM matters in the state.
