Srikandi will stand by their ‘abah’, says Rina

PETALING JAYA: In an emotionally-charged speech, Bersatu women’s wing chief Datuk Seri Rina Mohd Harun listed out the various forms of financial assistance during the pandemic when Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin was prime minister.

"Who put food for us on the table when we ran out of food? Who put money into our pockets when we did not have money? Who helped us when we needed help?" Rina said to Srikandi delegates.

"Abah," they shouted, standing up in unison.

Later, at a media conference after the speech on Friday (March 10), Rina said that she was standing up as "a daughter" of Muhyiddin, as he was being persecuted.

"Which daughter would not stand up for their father when he is being wrongly persecuted?

"The charges against Muhyiddin does not weaken us but raises our spirits.

"The number of Bersatu women attending the final day of AGM on Sunday (March 12) will double that of today," said Rina.

She also said that the Srikandi delegates raised economic and socio-political issues during their debate speeches.

"We will stand by the leadership of the party.

"In the constituencies, the women will be the machineries during the state elections," she added.

The Bersatu AGM is currently ongoing for three days, with the president's speech as the climax on March 12.

Earlier Friday, Muhyiddin claimed trial in the KL Sessions Court to four charges of abuse of power amounting to RM232.5mil and two counts of money laundering involving RM195mil.

Judge Azura Alwi, however, allowed him to be released on bail of RM2mil, which was posted by his family members, pending trial.
