KUALA LUMPUR: Outside of the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court, supporters of Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin gathered to protest the charges against him.

They began arriving around 8.30am, dressed in white “Kami Bersama Abah” (We are with Abah) T-shirts and red headbands with the hashtag #Abahtabah.

Equipped with a microphone and speakers, they chanted “hidup hidup” (live live), “lawan lawan” (fight, fight) “Pakatan Harapan, lawan lawan Anwar Ibrahim”.

They carried banners with the written words “malicious intent”, “failed government” and “political cruelty has to stop”.

A large number of the supporters were from several areas in Perak.

Bersatu Srikandi information chief Mastura Mohamad Darby said they were there to defend the truth.

“This has been our struggle for six years; our beloved and respected president has been charged with wrongdoings that he did not commit.

“Even after all his attempts to help the people during the country’s struggle as a result of Covid-19, he is now being dragged to court by a cruel and weak government,” she said.

She added that the people are with the former prime minister.

“Let’s pray together that Abah will be defended and that he will not be oppressed,” she said.

Bersatu member Haslinda Zakaria, from Pangkor, Perak, said she was there to show support for Muhyiddin.

“We will pray for justice for Abah, and we will show our full support for him,” she said.
