Umno polls: Official results for Youth, Wanita and Puteri exco yet to be announced


KUALA LUMPUR: The official results for the Umno Youth, Wanita and Puteri executive council (exco) elections have yet to be announced, despite the polls being held a day earlier on Saturday (March 11).

The media, who have been waiting at the headquarters of Umno at Menara Dato Onn, has not been informed as to when the official results will be made known.

Some media personnel have been waiting since morning for the announcement.

Sources said that Umno headquarters is still waiting for results to come in from several divisions.

“There are still results being tabulated at several divisions. We need all the results to come before an official announcement can be made,” a source said.

However, sources did not reveal which divisions have yet to submit the results to the party headquarters.

Official announcement of the results will be announced by election committee chairman Tan Sri Shahrir Samad.

The polls to elect Umno Youth, Wanita and Puteri exco, including its chiefs, were held at all of Umno’s 191 divisions on Saturday (March 11).

According to unofficial results, Datuk Dr Noraini Ahmad has returned as the Wanita Umno chief, defeating Tan Sri Shahrizat Jalil.

The unofficial results also indicated that Dr Akmal Salleh has won the Youth chief post while Datuk Nurul Amal Mohd Fauzi is the new Puteri chief.
