Foreigner nabbed after teenage girl found dead in Sandakan


KOTA KINABALU: A teenage girl has been found dead in the bushes at Sandakan's Kg Forest squatter colony.

Sandakan district police chief Asst Comm Abdul Fuad Abdul Malek said that the 15-year-old girl was believed to have been murdered.

He said police were informed of the incident at about 10am Tuesday (March 14) and found the body in the bushes on a muddy patch of land at the squatter colony.

ACP Abdul Fuad said police arrested a 22-year-old foreigner who was at the scene of the incident at around 12.30pm to assist in investigations.

He urged anyone with information on the incident to contact the police.

Viral pictures and videos of the victim had also spread on social media.

ACP Abdul Fuad advised people not to speculate on the case or circulate images of the victim as it could jeopardise the investigation.

He added that police have classified the case as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

The victim's body was sent to the Duchess Of Kent Hospital for an autopsy.
