ACTRESS Uqasha Senrose, who is currently in Singapore, said her husband, actor Kamal Adli, was severely injured after being beaten up by a man with a club during an event in the island republic, reported Berita Harian.
She said Kamal had to be rushed to hospital for surgery.
Uqasha said the incident took place between 9pm and 10pm on March 12 as the couple stopped to take a photo with a fan who was in a wheelchair.
“Suddenly, a man came over and asked for Kamal. We thought he was a fan.
“When Kamal approached the man, he brandished a club and started hitting him on his head,” she added.
The man, she said, kept on hitting Kamal even as he bled heavily.
Uqasha posted about the incident on Instagram.
Meanwhile, the perpetrator has been arrested by police and will face charges.
> An inmate serving a 30-year jail sentence at the Pokok Sena prison in Alor Setar, Kedah, was able to meet her 13-year-old son, Utusan Malaysia reported.
The inmate, known only as Siti, 35, was among the 20 female prisoners who were given the chance to meet their families under the “Program Jalinan Kasih Ibu dan Anak”.
“Although I could not meet all my children, I am still satisfied (that I could meet my son) because there is still a long way to go before my sentence ends,” said the mother of six who is serving her term for a kidnapping offence.
“Thirty years in prison is not a short term and although it is very painful, I have to take this as a test and go on with life,” she said.
Siti, who hails from Kuala Lumpur, said she felt sad knowing that her son was yearning for his mother.
Another inmate, known as Kina, 28, was also happy to meet her husband and two sons aged four and six.
“I felt sad looking at my elder son who has lost a lot of weight. It seems like he was hesitant to greet or hug me as we have not met in a long time,” said the woman who is serving a two-year sentence.
Kedah prisons director Abdul Kadir Jailani Ismail said the programme was aimed at ensuring that the relationship between mothers and their children remained strong despite the mothers being behind bars.
> Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim is looking to set up a women’s football team for Johor Darul Takzim (JDT), Kosmo! reported.
However, he said this would only be realised once the club had enough funds to support both the men’s and women’s teams.
“InsyaAllah, when our budget is better, we will have our own women’s football team,” he said during an interview with a local radio station.
