KUALA LUMPUR: The mid-term review of the 12th Malaysian Plan (12MP) will be tabled in Parliament in October this year, says Rafizi Ramli.
The Economy Minister said parts of the review were conducted with several international institutions such as the World Bank.
"The review is ongoing and there are engagement sessions with agencies. It will be tabled in Parliament in the October meeting," said Rafizi during his winding-up speech in Parliament on Tuesday (March 14).
"Allocations will be higher this year because it involves the 12MP mid-term review, which only happens in certain years," added Rafizi.
Rafizi was responding to Radzi Jidin (PN-Putrajaya), who asked when the mid-term review would be completed and tabled in Parliament.
Meanwhile, Datuk Awang Hashim (PN-Pendang) interjected and asked whether a mosque project in Pendang will continue under the new Pakatan Harapan-Barisan Nasional government.
"I'm requesting for this project to take off immediately. The mosque in Pendang is too cramped. People are sitting on the roads," added Awang.
In response, Rafizi said the unity government did not cancel any previous and ongoing projects that were approved.
"I can confirm that no projects were cut," added Rafizi.
The 12MP was tabled in the Dewan Rakyat in September 2021.
Later, Rafizi said the Bumiputra Agenda Steering Unit (Teraju) was allocated RM135mil under Budget 2023, which consists of RM100mil for the Bumiputra Prosperity Fund and RM35bil for the new Economy Fund.
"The Economy Ministry is scrutinising the equity side in the ministry and Teraju, as we are re-evaluating the effectiveness of Teraju," said Rafizi.
Rafizi said that Teraju, in the previous administrations, did not manage to fully utilise its allocations to fully benefit recipients.
"RM100mil to RM200mil was allocated, but the amount that trickled down to recipients is very low.
"That is why, I don't want to comment further, not because we don't have a bumiputra agenda, but because we want to ensure that this isn't repeated again," added Rafizi.
The ongoing Parliament meeting will take place till April 4.
